Activity Details

Webinar on mulberry thrips and mites

To address the serious problem of thrips and mites SAI organised webinor. Dr. Vinoda, Scientist, GKVK, is the resource person, 83 people participated in the programm. The present threat of mulberry cultivation to be addressed through intigrated approach

Bengaluru zonal chapter committee meeting at Devanahalli

SAI Bengaluru Chapter zonal meeting organized at Oxford Educational Institute. Sri Ramesh from Ramanagara District and Sri. K. Satheesh from Keeranagere have been incorporated in to the body as Secretory and working committee member of the Bengaluru Chapter of Silk Association of India. It is also decided to organise technical work shops in different places. In continued efforts to raise funds to organise National seminar is also decided.

Bengaluru zonal chapter committee meeting on Zoom plat farm

After welcoming the members discussed about to raise the funds to organise the proposed National Seminar and decided to collect Rs. 4-5 lakhs from the Zonal Chapter. Issues were raised regarding Pebrine problem in PM seed cocoons, non availability of seed cocoons and lacking of cocoon sorting in seed cocoons.

69th Executive committee meeting

Issues related to organise National Seminor disscussed including publications and dignitories to be invited. Sub commitees were for effective inplimentation. In addition subjects to be included in the news letter and Pebrine issues in the field also disscussed

Sri. M. Ramachandragowda selected as textile secretory KASSIA

Karnataka Small Scale Industries Association as a token of recognition selected Sri. Ramachendragowda, Secretory, SAI as Textile Secretory to update the information on textile sector of both plant and animal based.

70th Executive committee meeting

The theme of the National seminar finalized as INDIAN SERICULTURE-PRESENT STATUS AND FUTURE CHALLENGES. Publications to be releesed also decided.

Special General Body Meeting

Meeting organized at KSCA Bengalore. By law ammendments to 80G catogary tax exemptions decided in the general body meeting in addition to other issues.

Organised National Seminar and Foundation Day

Organised at KASSIA Aditorium, 1000 stake holders, CSB and State Sericulture Department officials participated in the seminor 10 technical papers presented in different sessions. 4 publications of SAI released concluded with submission of memorandum to the State Governament and CSB for considaration and for implimentation

Bengaluru zonal chapter committee field level technical awareness programme at Chickballapur

In coordination with Department of Sericulture organised Field level technical awareness programme at Ambedkar Bhavan, Chickballapur. Dr. C S Gururaj, Dr. M S Eswara Rao, Dr. C. Shivakumar Scientists from KSSRDI and Dr. Vinoda from GKVK, UAS Bengaluru participated as resource persons and Mr. Anjaneyareddy, DDS and other local officers participated and enriched the technical knowledge of 250 sericulturists participated in the workshop. The main issues discussed are Mulerry pests and diseases and mounting methods for cocoon quality improvement

Discussed to revive the activities of addopted village Doddaharalagere Sericulture village in collabaration with Dept of Sericulture and discussed the issues of Bengalore Chapter work shop at Chikkaballapur

SAI conducted 16th Annual general body meeting at CSB Auditorium, Madiwala, Bangalore

Meeting held at CSB auditorium, Madivala, Bengalore. In addition to the rutine agenda new executive body constituted for the term 3 years. Approved Zonal level commitiees and approval of Bylaw ammendments, appointment of auditours and also discussed field problems and probable solutions.

SAI conducted the Brainstorming session on the “present scenario and future strategies” of Sericulture industry in india . About 21 number of experts and scientists attended the session. The meeting was held at Century club, Bangalore.

Webinar on seed production problems

6.30 pm . SAI arranged the webinar discussions on “problems on silkworm seed production and measures to be taken” on webinar. About 70 members participated in the webinar session.

Special meeting at IAS officers Association

SAI special meeting took place , was presided over by the president at I.A.S. Officers Association, Bangalore on the formation of private companies in silk industry .Discussions took place to draft a memorandum to be submitted to the chief Secretary, government of Karnataka focussing on the problems of the industry , and the scope for the privatization of all the activities of the industry. It was mainly discussed that at present , there is seed supply problem in the state sericulture and immediate counter measures are necessary .

Webinar on Bivoltine P1 dfls production

SAI arranged webinar on : Augmentation of Bivoltine p1 dfls production through private sector participation “ . About 72 stakeholders, officers, and scientist participated in the discussion. And were of the opinion that the private participation is necessary to produce p1 dfls.

Registered seed producers (RSPs) meeting

Devanahalli . SAI organized RSPs meeting at Devanahalli for the collective opinion of the RSPs for the formation OF a company mainly for the production of p1 dfls by a private organization. About 40 RSPs attended the meeting.

Secretory informed that the company Soil to silk stake holders Pvt. Ltd is registered on 01-01-2024 and subsiquently organised stake holders meeting at KSSRDI. In the meeting it is decided that required advisory and executive committees were formed. It is also informed that letters requesting permissions for P1 layings production has been despached to Member Secretory and Director NSSO is despached and pursuing.

Meeting with Member Secretory, CSB

SAI president along with other members met the Member Secretary , CSB at Bangalore and submitted a memorandum requesting to intervene the problems including pebrine in field and providing cold storage facilities to RSPs .

Dr. SB Dandin and Sri. Ramachandragowda Participated in the meeting at New Delhi

SAI vice president and secretary attended a meeting of the stakeholders organized by M O T Govt of India at New Delhi and appraised the state sericulture status and involved in the discussions and emphasis required for future developments of sericulture industry in India.

84th Executive committee

Dr. Muniraju informed that companies bank account as been opened at HDFC Bank Gandhi Bazar, and persuing for permissions for P1 egg preparations. While discussing the pebrine problem in the field it is decided to bring it to the notice of DOS and also to the CSB

Meeting took place of SAI members under the leadership of Dr. C Narayanaswamy honorary president with the visiting Brazilian delegation at VSSPC Bengaluru.

SAI 88th EC meeting

SAI conducted its 88th e c meeting on Zoom platform. Secretory SAI, explained the discussions with Dr. Manjunath and issues related to Chairman post vacant in CSB action to be filled, about 6000 mt tonns of silk wast from India is exported to China annually to stopped and to be encraged localy to process, permissions related to P1 laying production to be given to private people, schems to be intoduced for Soil Ornganic carbon enrichment in mulberry gardens.

SAI had a meeting with the Australian High Commissioner at VSSPC, Bangalore and discussed the maters related to cooperation for development of sericulture for common interest.

SAI members met DR Sudhakar, Honorable Member of parliament from chikkaballapura constituency and discussed sericulture industry problems

SAI 89th EC meeting

Discussed the highlights of International Sericulture Union meeting held on 29-11-2024, at Itally, Dr. Angadi presnted a paper on Indian Sericulture. The meeting emposised more on organic sericulture.

SAI 90th EC meeting

SAI 90th E C meeting was conducted on Zoom platform. While discussing Dr. E. Muniraju informed the house that efforts to get permissions for P1 laying permission is not materiolising CSB is not showing intarest to issue required permissions. It is requested that SAI as to suggest for the next steps to initiate. President suggested to fixup a meeting with Member Secretory for dicussions.

Problems related to RSPs and discussed with the Sericulture minister. A technical committee was formed to address the problems. It is also discussed to organise National Seminor during November 2025. Different commeties are formed to organize National Seminor.

SAI along with NSSO and Alumni association , UAS, Hebbal organized one day training programme to p1 seed growing farmers at Alumni Association Auditorium Bangalore. Around 100 farmers participated in the training programme .

The Secretary SAI attended the meeting of Joint Director of Sericulture Seed area to discuss about the crisis and high prices of Pure Mysore Seed cocoons in the state .

7th Executive committee meeting

Subject related to regional consultation work shop related to silk quality was organized by CSB SAI invited and Divakar Y Bhat and Abdul Aziz participated. They highlited the that the work shop discussions basically concentrated on atleast 30% of silkproduction needs to be of International quality abd CSB is ready to support and to encaurage such quality production. In the meeting it is also decided to participate in the Indian Association congress to be held on 7th and 8th of August 2026. Dr.Angadi and Divakar Bhat identified to participate in the programme.

8th Exicutive committee meeting

Secretory informed SAI executive commeettee members visited Keeranagere Chawki center, DKS silks and Aryan silk industries to under the silk industry. Team met Commissioner for Sericulture and explined world bank project submitted. It is decided to organize SAI AGM on 25-7-2026

20th Annual General Body meeting

Organized at Allumini Association Auditorium, University of Agriculture Sciences, Hebbal, Bengalore. 66 members participated. In addition to routine discussions Dr. Priyaranjan, Sri. Narayanaswamy (RSP), Sri. Mahamad Anwar (Silk reeler), Mr. Sathes (ARM), Smt. Savitha V Amarashetty, Mr. Divakar Y Bhat and Dr. SB Dandin expressed their opinions to improve the activies of SAI to catter to the needs of Stakeholders. Meeting endede with Presidents speech and vote of thanks by Mr. M. Ramachandregowda.
